The summit marked an important milestone in Bangladesh and BIDA’s attempts to rightly showcase the country as an attractive investment destination. It led to a total of 2.7 billion USD worth of investments commitments being made in areas ranging from cement manufacturing and power generation to port construction and renewable energy. From the initial welcome session to a series of sectoral discussion sessions spread over two days, the doyens of industry, administration, and government shared their views on Bangladesh’s phenomenal rise and the immense opportunities it presents. During the summit, Hon’ble PM Sheikh Hasina reiterated her government’s resolve to provide all possible policy support to investors. The country has identified 11 sectors of potential and profitable opportunities. These are infrastructure, capital markets, financial services, information technology, electronics manufacturing, leather, automotive and light engineering, agro-products and food processing, healthcare and medicine, jute-textiles, and blue-economy.
